高知、四万十町出身の有志の方たちが「地元にもっと仕事を！」という思いで集まったのが四万十ノの始まりです。早い段階から声をかけていただいたので、ネーミングや基本理念を考えるところから一緒に参加することができました。社名の「四万十ノ」は、四万十のあらゆるいいものをこれからじっくりと紹介していきたいという思いを込めて名付けました。
プロジェクトはすべて「都市部の視点で切り取った豊な四万十」というスタンスで進めていきました。地元の人たちが見過ごしている（見慣れている？）素晴らしいものをきちんと磨いて外部に発信する形です。
全く新しいブランドで販売先も無い状態からスタートしましたが、初年度から大手百貨店に声をかけていただき、催事、常設で取扱っていただくことができました。

日本を代表する企業のトップの方達とも交流の多いプロ・マーケッター、川島蓉子さん。日本で一番、経営者の心を掴んでいるであろう彼女が、贈るセンスと相手の気持ちや立場を考え、貰って嬉しい品々の詰め合わせ7種類を提案してくれました。

Volunteers from Shimatocho, Kochi Prefecture gathered with the thought, “More jobs for locals!”; thus Shimatono began.
I was brought into project in its early phases, so was able to contribute to things like the organization’s name and fundamental principles.
Shimatono comes from the town’s name: Shimatocho (or Shimato town). The ending “no” of Shimatono is possessive in Japanese, meaning Shimato’s “things”, and was chosen because it best represented their desire to introduce all things Shimato.
The projects core vision: “Expose Shimato’s Plentiful Nature to City Dwellers”.
In other words, finding the rich, abundant, appealing aspects of Shimano that its residents don’t notice (having become entirely use to them?) and properly letting the world know.
Yoko Kawashima is a veteran marketer who is on familiar terms with leaders of many top Japanese companies. Aided by her thorough understanding of business leaders’ minds, she came up with seven different assorted Shimanto gift sets that will suit variety of tastes and situations.
