There are several ways to use the device, but its one important function is to detect the levels of air pollution; levels of CO2 and chemicals that cause sick building syndrome (SBS). Through iOS app, it lets us know a lot about our surrounding environment; levels of CO2 and chemicals that cause SBS, temperature, humidity, air pressure, light and ambient sound levels. It comes with a clip and Velcro and can be attached to your clothes or bags.
It also comes very handy for artists creating interactive art and performance art. All the real-time data can be transmitted via OSC which makes it perfect for producing interactive works of art.
There is a prototype we made for Kickstarter and a final version which is slightly smaller. The final version can be hung from your neck. With this product, we were not only in charge of ergonomics and aesthetics side of design but also mechanical design and mass production.
We feel that this device is good for measuring environmental data at factories and farms as well. Customization of sensors is available for customers purchasing the device in quantity.
Package design was done by Mr. Yuki Tachibana of “shed”. Photography by Mr. Masayuki Hayashi.
