This project was born of the request from a client that they wanted to produce a Shinto altar that suits modern houses. The client was completely new to the business and had no supply system for the product so we had to develop one. We did a thorough research on Shinto altar and Shintoism, then we searched for skilled craftsmen and asked for their advice on the best materials; we were even involved in coming up with a name for the company and copy for its web shop. We were unsure of how successful the product could become as the in-house web shop was its only outlet but it has been selling well continuously since the launch. This project made me really feel how accumulation of such attentive works creates a brand.
