Our intern in 2010, Nindya Nareswari (Indonesia, student), designed a lamp for us called Flames which we are proud to announce is now on sale. We had the idea early on, but it took awhile to work out how the lamp would look, particularly in relation to the spiraling wood. We continued our collaboration after Nindya returned and finally completed Flames as a product. If you’ve been in the design industry for awhile you tend to stay away from shapes which are difficult to mass-produce, but in this case I ignored all that and gave it a try. I think we gave the manufactures a huge headache, but in the end Flames turned out beautifully. This time I was reminded sometimes trying for the impossible isn’t such a bad idea.
